Surrender
Considering rehoming your dog?
We understand there are many good reasons for needing to re-home your dog. We as a rescue respect these decisions.
We are no longer accepting surrenders into our rescue.
When facing the difficult decision to surrender your pet(s), it’s crucial to explore alternative options first.
These may include:
- Rehoming: Try to find a new home for your pet yourself through friends, family, or online platforms.
- Fostering: Consider fostering your pet temporarily until a permanent home can be found.
- Breed-Specific Rescue: If you have a specific breed of dog or cat, contact a breed-specific rescue organization.
- Assistance Programs: Some shelters offer programs like urgent care or financial assistance to help owners manage their pets’ needs
- Assistance from Other Organizations: Other animal welfare groups or shelters might be able to offer support, resources, or guidance.
- Behavioural or training issues: consider contacting a qualified training professional.
- If the issue is housing: consider offering your landlord a refundable pet deposit to alleviate their concerns. If you are open to moving, target smaller buildings or private rentals that have flexible policies.
- If you are facing homelessness and looking for temporary support in keeping your family together, try contact Through Ruff Times for advice
